AUSTIN, Texas – May 2, 2022 – the RMDA, today announced the recap of its 2022 annual conference held in Nashville, TN.  Ben Jones, CEO of Skipcart, kicked off the conference providing the history of delivery that began with the first documented delivery of pizza in 1889 to Queen Margharita, followed by initial digital deliveries in the 1990s via pizza.net, launched by Pizzahut. The feature dives into how the new app and website will pair diners with hometown providers.

Independent delivery service providers (DSPs) can sign up now at the marketplace https://thermda.org/marketplace/ and the general availability for consumers will be summer 2020.

“In a world where, according to PwC, 41% of consumers are willing to pay added fees for same-day delivery, hyperlocal infrastructure is paramount and we are perfectly positioned for this opportunity,” stated Andrew Simmons, president of RMDA. “As the only organization supporting independent DSPs we are instrumental in creating a the API approach that is robust, fluid and complete with a user interface that is easy for all consumers. It is time to disrupt the disrupters and support the local economic boom.”

To ensure the technology stack and infrastructure can support this incredible growth, The RMDA network participates in group buying power. One key initiative also launched at the conference is a driver’s insurance program.

At its core, RMDA is about dialogue, sharing best practices, and building connections among the members and partners. The 2022 conference included more than 250 registered members and partners for three full days of insightful keynotes, technical breakouts, product demonstrations, and an incredible list of sponsors.

The meeting concluded with an announcement on newly elected board members. Congratulations to incoming officials including Justin Greene, Marge Loveday and Maurice Mercer.
